Jacob with His New Nikon D3100

Howdy. Welcome to my website. This blog is a place for me share my passions: photography and astronomy. I am constantly learning more about each. In photography, I mainly shoot small photoshoots for people I know and for family, as well as nature photography, landscapes, and many other aspects of photography; I enjoy exploring the many areas of photography. I love astrophotography, too, of course. I won the Young Astronomy Photographer of the Year Competition 2013 (-16 category). Here’s a list of equipment that I use:

For my photography:

I started out with the Nikon D3100, which I still have. However, my main camera is the Nikon D600. I also have the Nikkor 50mm F/1.4G, the Nikkor 70-300mm F/4.5-5.6 G ED IF VR.

And for my Astronomy/Astrophotography:

I have an Orion AstroView 6 EQ, a 6 inch F/5 Newtonian telescope on manual German Equatorial mount

I also use a self modified Celestron C9.25/Losmandy GM-8, a 9.25 inch F/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope on a Losmandy German EQ. I use this for most of my astrophotos.

Find me on Flickr.

Thank you for visiting and reading my blog!

  1. Jacob,

I just saw Scott’s post about the NY crew coming to do an interview with you on Wednesday. Keep me posted and congratulations! – Aunt Barb

  2. Congratulations Marchio Men! You rock getting through 6 Mile Falls and placing 3rd. Gab’s expression is priceless as he entered the raging whitewater- Gab’s Gap (mouth that is). Love the raised paddle when through the worst of it too! Too bad you chose the wrong shoot at Grocery Cart, it cost you second place. But, hey, rookies placing is awesome!!!!

    1. Thanks, I passed it on. It was a lot of fun to watch. They were a bit down after their spill, but they recovered quickly. Rookies placing is awesome, agreed!

  3. Your photos are very exciting! When I look through them, I truly admire how hard you work at something you are passioned about. Simply amazing! I wish you the best of luck – keep on progressing!
